Find wellness. Like Kari did.
Kari Perisho has been practicing wellness for 10 years and really enjoys the alternative health care field of massage. Her varied and extensive background includes skills in Medical Assisting, Chiropractic Assisting and Herbology. Currently, she’s working on a bachelors degree in Health Sciences and plans to go to NCNM for continuing education in Acupuncture/Naturopathy. What was it though that inspired her to do all this and to be known as “magic hands”?
Why Kari Chose Massage?
Growing up, Kari got headaches at least every other day. Since it was really affecting her ability to study while in her nursing program at Lower Columbia College, she decided to do something about it. She went to her doctor and the funniest thing happened — she prescribed a massage! Can you believe that? Wasn’t massage just for celebrities and prissy girls who just wanted to throw their money around? Not the case.
When Kari received her very first massage session, her head felt lighter and her body took on a new level of wellness. Then, she thought of a very wise idea: to provide abdominal massage techniques to geriatric patients as a treatment for constipation. And, wow how it worked! She didn't need to get out the gloves anymore to assist them, and her patients certainly welcomed the greater privacy, too.
Needless to say, Kari had found her calling, changed her major and became a massage therapist. While in massage school, she had to exchange massages with other students regularly and received at least three a week. By the second term of school, she didn't experience any more headaches, and was able to study and graduate with honors. It was music to her ears....and the rest of her, too, for that matter.
Wellness has a musical prescription.
Both Kari’s love of music and techniques are reflected in the name of her business name, Adagio, a musical term meaning slowly. Often, the best treatment is slowing down the body and speeding up wellness. Find yourself at ease in the music of life with Kari Perisho at Adagio.
"My ultimate goal is to help create balance and a feeling of wellbeing for my clients with the healing benefits of music, therapeutic touch, aromatherapy and hydrotherapy with the intention of love." -Kari Perisho, LMT.
